We’re a little crazy about resistance bands around here! We just love how they are adaptable to any fitness level and you can exercise all major muscle groups for a whole body workout. One of the major benefits over traditional weights is that bands and tubing don’t rely on gravity to provide resistance. Free weights can only provide resistance in a vertical plane —the direction of gravity. With resistance bands, you can create resistance while doing exercises in a horizontal plane. Performing exercises with resistance in a horizontal plane better prepares you for performing daily tasks—such as turning your body while carrying a heavy box. It makes tasks much easier with less risk for injury.
