Sleeping Weight Loss

Poor Sleep Can Cause Weight Gain

Lack of quality sleep results in reduced leptin and elevated ghrelin levels; two hormones that are crucial in appetite regulation. Studies have shown an association between habitual insufficient sleep time and increased body mass index in large population samples. One study showed that short sleep was one of the strongest individual risk factors for future weight gain and obesity. Most healthy adults require at least 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night.
