PhysioMoves™ Classes

PhysioMoves™ classes are developed by Balance Physical Therapists and Health Coaches to meet the unique needs of movement and aging. The most common workout approach for younger non-athletes is to exercise for appearance. The workout is centered around smaller waists, bigger arms, and a leaner body. While these can all have positive overall health effects, they typically don’t focus on weaknesses in our bodies or in movement.

PhysioMoves classes focus on functional movement exercises that translate into everyday living and performance. It is the preferred approach to exercise for athletes and others looking to maintain an active lifestyle.

Circuit

PhysioMoves is part workout, part education, and all fun. Built around a familiar timed-circuit approach, each station is balanced with the others for a perfect whole body workout. It is an hour of fitness spent discovering your body’s potential while maintaining our “start where your are” attitude. We’ll work on all components of physical movement including strength, flexibility, balance and endurance. The class is led by a Balance Health Coach, guiding you through the exercises and answering any questions you have. Every week the stations change, to surprise your body and engage the mind–the best possible approach for optimal results. You’ll learn the smartest approaches to exercise, and discover ways to maintain a healthy, active life.

Essentials

A well-rounded blend of aerobics and body-weight resistance strengthening designed to build balance, muscle tone, and cardiovascular health. When done consistently, this combination of exercises can reduce the impact of significant health risks like hypertension and diabetes. It will make you look and feel great.

Chair

What can you do from a chair? Grab a seat & join us for an effective fitness workout that doesn’t require you to roll around on the floor. By adopting a creative approach to exercise, you can overcome mobility limitations and continue building your strength and flexibility.

Floor EX

Short for “floor exercise”, this class incorporates elements of Pilates and Yoga to improve your core muscle stability. By learning to control this muscle group, you will find improved overall performance in both sport and everyday tasks. These muscles are also an essential part of maintaining good balance, improving posture, and correct body alignment.

Flexibility

Stretching is an essential but often overlooked part of good fitness. Common everyday tasks like driving or carrying a purse or backpack can cause muscles to get tight. Stretching creates better form and posture, lowers the risk of injury, and improves balance. As a part of your exercise plan, stretching helps lessen post-workout fatigue by lengthening constricted muscles. Plus, it feels so good!

Gentle Flow Yoga

Join us for an all-levels class that brings the physical and mental benefits of yoga to Balance. Yoga’s purpose is to create strength, awareness and harmony in both the mind and body. Our yoga class will engage core muscle groups, enhance joint flexibility, improve muscle tone, and provide an opportunity for deep relaxation through mindful breath and movement.

Line Dance Fitness

This is simply too fun to be considered a workout. Our instructor will guide you through new and classic line dances on your way to better fitness. We’re going to be on the padded aerobic floor, so wear your gym shoes rather than your cowboy boots.

Aquatics

Aquatic fitness classes are a great way to build your endurance and overall health in a low-impact environment. You will explore and improve balance, coordination, strength, and agility all in a comfortable pool setting. Water-based exercise improves our quality of life and decreases physical challenges to exercise in an approachable, fun way. It can be especially helpful for folks with chronic diseases, where lower impact exercise is needed.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a sophisticated system of movement designed to work virtually all the tissues of the body. As you learn and practice the powerful yet low-impact movements of the Tai Chi form, you’ll begin to understand your body in new ways, relaxing at ever deeper levels, and expand your motion through everyday life.
